DESCRIPTION

Taking into consideration the current state of land in Republic of Serbia, which is a result of various environmentally unsustainable activities, urgent and comprehensive actions are needed to reduce pressures on land and improve its current status. The UNEP/GEF project aims to reduce pressures on land and generates environmental and social benefits for Serbia. 

Being a CSO focal point for United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) for South East Europe and with vast experience working on environmental protection projects in the region, especially in the area of land degradation,  fea was engaged as the non-governmental consultancy with the aim to support development of all documents required for submission of Project to GEF Secretariat that will help in reducing pressures on soil.

OBJECTIVES

The overall objective of the Project is to provide support in the preparation of all relevant documents during the Project Preparation phase, which aims to reduce the pressure on land, which is one of the most important natural resources in Serbia.

  • Defining national stakeholders and assistance of organization of first stakeholders in Belgrade

  • Stakeholder capacity assessment

  • Undertaking studies defining status of land quality, management, legislation and main environmental issues

  • National validation of developed documents and assistance with consolidation of all materials into project document
