Summary of the project:
The project supported the transition towards carbon neutrality of the Sarajevo Functional Urban Area (FUA), encompassing the City of Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, and Sarajevo Canton. Funded by the European Commission, it provided targeted technical assistance for the development of key strategic documents: the Climate City Contract (CCC), the Climate Neutrality Action Plan (CNAP), and the Climate Neutrality Investment Plan (CNIP).
Through structured workshops, stakeholder consultations, and continuous multi-level engagement, the project established a coherent strategic framework for prioritizing climate actions and investments. This approach strengthened the foundation for long-term sustainability and a credible pathway towards climate neutrality in the Sarajevo FUA.
Project goals:
The general objective of the project was to provide technical support to the carbon neutrality mission of the Sarajevo Functional Urban Area (including the City of Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, and Sarajevo Canton) through the preparation of the Climate City Contract (CCC), the Climate Neutrality Action Plan (CNAP), and the Climate Neutrality Investment Plan (CNIP).
FEA acted as lead and technical support for the AFOLU sector, while also contributing to the design and facilitation of stakeholder engagement processes, including support to the Citizens’ Assembly and the organization of workshops and consultations, ensuring inclusive and participatory decision-making.
Expected results and main activities:
The main activities included:

Participation in workshops, consultations, and project presentations
Facilitation of AFOLU working groups
