Summary of the project:
City of Bosanska Krupa is renowned for its natural beauty, and one of its most notable features is the Krušnica River. Along with its springs, course, and surrounding ecosystems, the Krušnica River is characterized by a high degree of biological diversity, making it an essential area for ecological preservation. This recognition led to a certain level of protection under the former Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, the status of protection is not in accordance with contemporary legal frameworks.
The project prepared a Valuation study (expert assessment) for the protection of the wider area of the Krušnica River’s flow, identifying and documenting its biological and cultural-historical values.
Project goals:
The main goal of the project was to prepare a valuation study (expert assessment) for the protection of the Krušnica River in Bosanska Krupa. This included the preparation and submission of:
A Valuation study for the protection of the the wider area of the Krušnica River's flow,
Shapefiles and spatial representation of the boundaries of the area, protection zones, as well as associated biodiversity and cultural-historical heritage in the Gauss-Krüger 6 zone.
Expected results and main activities were:
Task I: Establishment of Expert Working Teams Report
Organization of working teams, assignment of responsibilities and deadlines for project experts.
Task II: Development and Compilation of Available Literature Data Report Conducting research and analyzing existing data, literature, scientific papers, and spatial planning documents relevant to the Krušnica River area.
Task III: Development and Compilation of the Draft Valuation Study
Analysis of collected data, creation of electronic databases and field research to gather necessary information about the natural and cultural-historical values of the area. As a result, a Draft Valuation Study was prepared.
Task IV: Organization of Workshops and Implementation of Promotional Activities The first workshop was organized to introduce stakeholders to the project; alongside parallel promotional activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of protecting the Krušnica River area. The second workshop focused on presenting the Draft Valuation Study.
Task V: Finalization of the Valuation Study Incorporation of feedback from relevant stakeholders and delivery of the final Valuation Study to the Client.
Task VI: Awareness Raising, Promotion, and Stakeholder Engagement Implementation of targeted awareness-raising activities, promotion of project results, and active involvement of key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure ownership and long-term sustainability of outcomes.
