Summary of the project:
The project focused on developing integrated and sustainable tourism models across selected protected river and mountain areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Montenegro. It addressed the need to balance tourism development with environmental protection by introducing innovative tourism products and strengthening the link between conservation and local economic development.
Through a cross-border approach, the project enabled collaboration between stakeholders, tourism operators, and environmental experts, contributing to improved management of protected areas and the development of sustainable, high-value tourism offers.
Project goals:
The main objective of the project was to develop joint strategic and operational frameworks for sustainable tourism development, integrating environmental protection, cultural heritage valorisation, and market-oriented tourism products across the project area.
Expected results and main activities:
The main activities included:
Development of a Joint Action Plan for Tourism Product Development, including resource mapping, stakeholder engagement, development of interpretive content, pilot testing, and creation of the Eco_Cult_Tourism product
Preparation of a Joint Action Plan for Tourism, including participatory workshops, SWOT and demand analysis, and development of a strategic and operational framework with investment guidelines
Development of a Joint Marketing Plan, including market segmentation, branding, digital tools, and coordinated promotional activities
Strengthening cross-border cooperation and alignment of tourism and environmental management approaches
