Through comprehensive mapping, analysis, and implementation of control measures, it mitigated the ecological impact of this species on native biodiversity and ecosystems. By developing a management plan and engaging local communities, the project ensured sustainable management and restoration of affected areas, enhancing environmental resilience and protection across BiH.
Project goals:
The main objective of the project was to develop a management plan for the tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle) in the Federation of BiH, along with an Action Plan for measures/methods of suppression, eradication, and control of the invasive species, considering its biology, ecology, and distribution.
Expected results and main activities:
The main activities included:
Task 1. Mapping and monitoring the spread of tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima) in the Federation of BiH
Task 2. Identification of key impact areas of tree of heaven
Task 3. Development and testing of tree of heaven control methods
