The project focused on the protection of primeval forests and high conservation value areas in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing their ecological significance and the need for sustainable forest management. It supported biodiversity conservation through strengthened legal protection, improved management measures, and increased awareness, contributing to the expansion and long-term sustainability of protected areas in BiH.
Project objective
General objective:
The general objective of the project was to promote the protection and sustainable management of primeval forests and high conservation value forests in the Federation of BiH.
To raise awareness within the community about the exceptional natural values of primeval forests and high conservation value forests, as well as their role in social well-being.
To promote the protection of primeval forests and the designation of high conservation value forests at the federal level, while strengthening the responsibility of all stakeholders towards these valuable natural resources.
Key project activities:
Organization of initial meetings with experts and public forestry administration
These meetings enabled direct engagement with relevant experts and institutions, identified priority topics and needs, and established partnerships for subsequent project activities.
Development and dissemination of educational and promotional content
A media campaign was implemented through TV, radio, print media, and social networks, supported by the production of educational video materials and an educational-informative brochure, ensuring continuous outreach throughout the project.
Project coordination and reporting
Expected project outcomes:
Enhanced visibility and promotion of primeval forests, high conservation value forest areas, and OECMs (Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures).
Increased public awareness and understanding of the importance of environmental protection, with a strong focus on forest ecosystems.
Strengthened foundation for the sustainable management and long-term protection of primeval forest areas in the Federation of BiH.
