Forestry and Environmental Action (fea) participates in Dialogue on National BiodiversityStrategies in Chișinău, Moldova

From September 9 to 11, 2024, Forestry and Environmental Action (fea) took part in the Dialogue for

Central and Southeastern Europe, held in Chișinău, Moldova. The dialogue aimed to facilitate the

revision and implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) in alignment with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. The discussions focused on sharing national

experiences, identifying challenges in biodiversity conservation, and setting national biodiversity goals.



As a member of the CBD Women’s Caucus, fea had the honor of presenting the topic of Gender-

Responsive NBSAPs, emphasizing the importance of integrating gender considerations into national

biodiversity planning.


The discussions also covered a wide range of topics, including the integration of the Cartagena and

Nagoya Protocols, national target setting, and the development of monitoring plans. Breakout sessions

on capacity-building and biodiversity finance aimed to enhance the region's ability to implement these strategies effectively.


By the end of the dialogue, participants had explored solutions to common challenges, identified

opportunities for progress, and outlined next steps in advancing national biodiversity goals.


This dialogue not only reaffirmed the importance of biodiversity conservation, but also underscored the

need for inclusive approaches that integrate diverse perspectives and solutions.
