On Friday, June 23, 2023, in Tuzla, the successful completion of the project "Let's Catch Smog and Polluting Particles - Art in the Role of Improving Air Quality and Raising Public Awareness of Tuzla's inhabitants" was celebrated in front of the mural that is from now on located at Rudarska 55 where will „catch" polluting particles and decorate the Irac neighborhood.
The mural is painted with special photocatalytic paints that, thanks to the titanium oxide (TiO2) in its composition, have the ability to purify the air by binding polluting particles such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted by cars and industrial plants.
In addition to functionality, the mural also has significant artistic value, and it is signed by world-renowned artist David Strauss. The message on the mural says: "𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲! 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁?” thus pointing to the problem of air pollution and calling for action.
"𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑓𝑖𝑔𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑔 𝑤𝑜𝑚𝑎𝑛 𝑟𝑒𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑜𝑓 𝑢𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑠𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑎𝑔𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑖𝑠𝑚"
- emphasized the author of the mural, Mr. Strauss.
The celebration of the completion of the project was also attended by the president of the City Council of the City of Tuzla, representatives of the apartment owners of the painted building and local non-governmental associations dealing with environmental protection.
The project "Let's Catch Smog and Polluting Particles - Art in the Role of Improving Air Quality and Raising Public Awareness of Tuzla's inhabitants" is co-funded by Environmental Protection Fund of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
